The plastic to diesel process includes two steps, pyrolysis process and distillation process. The pyrolysis process is used to recycle the solid waste to heavy fuel oil, and the distillation process is used to refine the heavy fuel oil to diesel.

First step: The pyrolysis process

The pyrolysis process is mainly high-temperature pyrolysis and low-temperature cooling. Solid plastics are mainly long molecular chains. In the process of high temperature heating, long molecular chains are broken into short molecular chains which is the oil gas, then oil gas will be cooled down to the liquid oil at the condensers system. This oil is plastic pyrolysis oil, which is a kind of heavy oil.

Second step: The distillation process

The distillation process is mainly to refine the liquid heavy oil materials obtained from pyrolysis process. After refining, plastic fuel oil is further broken into short molecular chains, which are then turned into diesel by the catalyst. Distillation process needs to use the catalyst, and there are two types of distillation plant. One uses the solid catalyst and another one uses the liquid catalyst. These two designs could meet different client’s different requirements.

The final product---diesel fuel applications

The diesel extracted from the waste plastic is the non-standard diesel with good color and smell, which couldn’t be used in cars, but could be used in big trucks, ships, heavy machines, agricultural machinery, power generators, etc.

Plastic to diesel oil output

There are many different types of plastic, and all kinds of plastic could be used for pyrolysis except the PVC and PET. But if the PVC and PET content is not much, less than 10%, then that’s okay for pyrolysis. The oil yields of different plastics are different. If your machine contains a lot of PP, PS,PE, then the plastic pyrolysis oil yield will be high, over 70%. If you process the mixed garbage plastic, the plastic pyrolysis oil yield is estimated between 30%-50%. And the pyrolysis plastic oil to diesel yield is about 85%.
